Born in 1962 in St. Louis, MO. Moved to Silver Spring, MD in 1965 where I was raised until the age of 16. My parents divorced when I was 7 and my mother moved my sisters and me to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1978 and where I called home until moving the St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2002. I married my wife Cindy in 2007. We moved to Surf City, NC in the Fall of 2015. Over the course of my life I attended Public schools in Silver Spring, MD until I was 14 when I started attending Private boarding schools in South Kent, CT, Chester, NJ and Winchendon, MA. I was accepted and graduated from Washington and Jefferson College ( NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was my RA my Freshman year). Following college I worked a variety of jobs including Food and Beverage, Retail Management/Sales and Hotel Hospitality/Group Sales. When my family sold one of our retail businesses in 2000 I decided to venture into a new career as a Professional Scuba Diving Instructor and moved to the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Eustatius for a year before moving to St. John, USVI to continue my diving career until 2013. I left the island from the Fall of 2009 until the Spring of 2011 to attend Graduate School in Minnesota and then briefly worked in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, BC as an Addictions Counselor. In 2013 I purchased the Rehoboth Beach Surf Shop in Delaware and have run the business seasonally (May - October) where I have enjoyed teaching surfing lessons to kids of all ages (6-67). As I step away from this business I now find myself facing this new adventure as a travel/adventure writer sharing my thoughts and experiences with any and all who might find an interest in trail running/hiking, sobriety, nature, kindness, gratitude and acceptance of life on life's terms.
